Concept2 Rowing
Every year indoor rowing competitions are organised with C2 rowing machines.
I discovered this discipline in 2005 as I was preparing for an ocean crossing with a row boat.
C2 rowers are increasingly used for fitness & cardio training.
It also is a sport that is accessible by most with handicaps.
There are 3 categories of handicaps: Handi A (arms), Handi TA (arms, trunk), and LTA.
I am in the LTA ( arms, trunk and legs) category.
I trained 5 times a week, in sessions of an hour and a half, to different rythm and training frequencies.I was my own coach, working on sensation & well-being.
On the 11th of december 2006, in a competition at the Pierre Coubertin Stadium,
I set up a new world record with a time of 6mn48s.
Records are made to be beat, it was the case in 2009.
David Smith, 31, from Reading England beat the world record held by frenchman Frank Festor in Birmingham on november 22nd 2009.
The new mark is now 6:32.5 on a distance of 2000m on a Concept2 Rower.
